Bogdan Varlamov will present a brief overview of Distributed Version Control.

Then, we will give out (for free) 21 copies of the book "Version Control by Example" by Eric Sink. This book deals with the following open source version control tools:

  • Apache Subversion
  • Mercurial
  • Git
  • Veracity

This is a must-read for any developer serious about having a career... and a great read for anyone serious about keeping track of multiple versions of all kinds of text documents while maintaining their sanity ; )

  • Presentation: about 15-20 minutes of slides/examples
  • Q & A: about 5-10 minutes of questions/answers
  • Hangout: May stay until the bar closes and eat pizza, drink beer, and chat with your fellow developers... or schmoozing up to the presenter to get more detailed info ;)

Be sure to RSVP so we know how much pizza to we need... Oh, and of course you will be able to purchase beer from one of the best selections in town since this presentation will be hosted at the Old Winston Social Club.

... and did we mention the first 21 people to RSVP get a "$35 value" book for free? :P
